March 10 - Salida - Steve Craig
- A Do It Yourself Alaska Road Trip
Steve and Tracy Craig hooked up their 16 foot trailer last June, and took off from Colorado bound for Alaska. Steve’s program will describe some of the fishing opportunities they discovered or observed along the way. Ranging from close-in saltwater salmon to higher altitude grayling fisheries and interior Alaska remote lakes for northern pike, they fished mostly, but not exclusively, in a do-it-yourself mode. One of the objectives of the 10 week road trip was to get a feel for the real Alaska and an understanding of the complicated interactions between commercial, sport and subsistence fishing. Interwoven throughout their quest for angling opportunities was the experience of the magnificence of Alaska – Denali, Skagway, Fairbanks, the Kenai Peninsula and more. So if you’ve ever thought about hitting the highway for the 49th state, or just have an interest in learning about Alaska fisheries, you don’t want to miss this
one..
April 14 - Buena Vista

Drew Peternell, Colorado Water Project
Drew is a water lawyer and a National TU staff member located in Boulder. The Colorado Water Project was instituted by TU partly because Colorado has weak laws and policies for protecting rivers and fish and with increased population growth in the state our cold water resources were increasingly at risk.
Some specific actions the Colorado Water Project is or has been involved in are setting temperature standards for Colorado rivers, saving the in-stream water rights in the Black Canyon of the Gunnison, addressing excess water diversions from rivers such as the San Juan and the Colorado, defeating the construction of the AB lateral canal and leading the fight for by pass flows on water projects on federal lands. Drew is a long time friend of our chapter and will welcome questions on Colorado water law as it applies to local rivers and streams.
